Everyone loves iPhone apps and all the magical things they do. And most of them are pretty cheap, in the $0.99 range. However, just a few apps a day at that price can begin to break the bank. So here's a few of the top free apps for you iPhone. You can download these hot apps guilt free and keep your hard-earned cash!
Shazam
Have you ever been somewhere and heard a song you love playing, but not know the name to it? Then you go home and try to remember the lyrics and Google them? This works pretty well sometimes, getting you the name of the song. However, there has been quite a few times when I have not been able to remember the lyrics. And I bet this has happened to you, too. Well, as Apple would say, there's an app for that. The app is called Shazam and is for the iPhone. All the user has to do is launch the the Shazam app and get his or her iPhone within earshot of the music that is playing. After about 15 seconds, Shazam will tell you the artist, song title and album that the track is from.
Shazam will also mark the song in a section called "My Tags" so you can come back later and look at the songs you have identified using your iPhone. And on the iPhone, you can even select the "Buy on iTunes" option if it's a must-have song.
Twitterific
If you haven't got a Twitter account yet, then you are missing out. And if you have a Twitter account and an iPhone, then you need Twitterific. Twitterific is a free iPhone app that let's you tweet, read tweets and read direct messages from the popular social networking service.
Twitterific for the iPhone has many advanced functions like search and "nearby" search. Nearby search uses your iPhone's GPS function to see what people are tweeting near you. This free app allows you to track Twitter trends, as well. This way you can follow the emerging and most popular happenings in Twitterland from anywhere. Twitterific is available as a free download for the iPhone from the App Store.
Drinks Free
For the alcoholic beverage connoisseurs out there, there is a free iPhone app called Drinks Free. It is a drink and cocktails recipe app with over 5000 different drink recipes. It has a "favorite function", which allows you to store your favorite drink recipes in an easily accessible menu. Drinks Free for the iPhone also has a "random drink" feature if you are feeling edgy. Just click the random button and the app will come up with a random recipe to get your night started.
Last.fm
If you're into music and discovering new favorites to listen to, then you need the Last.fm app. This free iPhone app works a lot like the Last.fm website. Simply sign up for a Last.fm account if you don't already have one. Then you can start scrobbling, or letting Last.fm track, the songs that you listen to. This allows the service to recommend what music you might like. It also creates a "Neighborhood Radio" so you can listen to the music popular with people possessing similar tastes to yours. Who can resist free streaming music on their iPhone, anyways? Especially if it is music that is tailored to fit your musical tastes!
So there it is, a good start to your free iPhone app collection. Just remember, free app downloading doesn't cost a thing, so it can become quite addictive!
